Step 1.Warming-up and revision
T: Last class we have learned about how to name the family members. Now let me check if you have remebered them. Ok,give me the names of family members as much a syou know
S: mother, father ,sister….
T: Anything else
S: brother, grandmother, grandfather…
T: Ok,good job! Now, please bring out the photos about your families members and I want some volunteers to point the people on the picture to introduce their family members before the whole class.
S: There’re three people in my family.This is my mother, that is my father…
Step 2. listening practise I (2a):
Practise recognizing specific vocabulary words in spoken conversations
·play the recording the first time. Students only listen.
·play the recording a second time. This time students circle
each name of a family member they hear in the conversation.
·check the answers.
listening practise II (2b):
T: Now please look at the picture in 2b. These are Dave’s family members.
Look, they are so happy.But I don’t know who are they exactly. Can you tell
me?I will play the recording and please match the name with the people in the picture.
(The teacher may wish to play ir twice so students can check their answers.)
T: Can you give me your answer?
S: ---

Step 3 Presentation (呈现新知识)
1) T: OK, now we have known Dave, Lin Hai, Mary and Jim

T: Look at this woman. Is this Dave’s mother?
S: Yes, she is / No, she isn’t.
T: What about these two old people?
Are those Dave’s grandparents?
S: Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.

2) Work on 2c (完成P14-2c)
T: Two students a group. Ask and answer by using
your own pictures13 Please use these sentences:
“Is this your uncle?”
“Are those your parents?”
S1: Hi, XXX. Is this your grandfather?
S2: Yes, he is.
S1: Are those your parents?
S2: No, they are my uncle and aunt.

3) Work on 2d (完成P14-2d)
Guessing Game.
T: Look. What’s in my hands. This is a picture. But you
only can see a part of the picture14. I can tell you this is a
member in Dave’s family. Can you guess “Who is it?”
Please use the questions we have learned today.
S: Is that Dave’s aunt?
Is this his grandmother
Are these his brother?
Are those his friends?
Step4: Written /oral practise(3a-3b):
1) Review the target language on the “grammar focus”
2) Fill in the blanks on 3a with the target language.
(ask students to work as they write the four words from the box in the blanksi the speech bubbles and check the answers.)
3) Pairwork
·Practise the conversation with a student on 3a
·ask students to work in pairs
·ask a few students to present the conversation for the class
Step5: Written /oral practise(3c-3d):
1)·ask three students to read the conversation on 3c as the class look at the pictures.
· show the name of your father, mother or a friend on the screen. Ask students to guess who that person is ,using questions beginning with Is he…? Say Yes, he is or Yes, she is when the students guesses correctly.
· ask students to take turns to give a name foe the rest of the class to make guesses about.
2)·ask the students to find photos of family members having together.
·divide the students into smallgroups. Have students find out who the people in each other’s photos are ,using the target language of this unit..Model some Is this you …?,Is he your…?questions for the class using one of the students’s
Photo.
·Having students present another student’s family to the class by explaining who the people are in the other students’s photo.
Homework:
Write down your introduction about your own family and
your friend’s family as detailed as possible.
